I was born in 1998 in Hawassa town, which is located in Souther Ethiopia, and raised in a small town. Throughout my artistic journey, I have been profoundly influenced by the distinctive experiences that have shaped my path. The natural splendor surrounding me during my upbringing, characterized by rolling hills, expansive forests, and tranquil lakes, served as both my playground and an endless wellspring of inspiration. Growing up in Hawassa, a town rich in nature, provided me with ample opportunities to immerse myself in its diverse aquatic life, birds, and other natural wonders. I cherish the moments spent by the lake, where I would often paint.
I completed my primary and secondary education in Hawassa, actively participating in school art minimedia activities, I received different appreciation from my school. I have been in different Ethiopian locales and am inspired by indigenous culture and tradition of Ethiopia. These appear in the figure, forms and patterns that appear in my art.
In 2010, I became a part of Arts for Youth Center (AYC), a non governmental organization (NGO) which is situated in Hawassa, Ethiopia. AYCC dedicates itself to empowering youth and fostering positive community change through a range of impactful initiatives and programs. During my time with AYCC, I had the opportunity to create various artworks and collaborate with teams in workshops focused on sculpture, mural art, painting, and mixed media art. These experiences allowed me to exchange artistic skills with artists from the United States, Europe, and different regions of Africa. When I was in AYCC I started focusing on Graffiti and Street art. I am irresistibly drawn to the raw energy, boundless creativity, and unique expressions that emerge from the streets, finding their way onto walls, buildings, and public spaces.
After completing my studies in Hawassa, I embarked on a journey to addis Ababa, the capital city of Ethiopia, Alle School of Fine Art and Design. Joining this esteemed institution allowed me to immerse myself in a vibrant artistic community and learn from experienced teachers and talented peers.
During my time at Alle School, I had the privilege of sharing my skills and experiences with fellow students, while also benefiting from their expertise and perspectives. The collaborative environment fostered growth and encouraged me to push the boundaries of my artistic practice. The teachers and friends I encountered at the school played a significant role in shaping my artistic journey, providing guidance, support, and constructive feedback.
Having recently completed my Bachelor’s degree in Painting from Alle School of Fine Art, I have gained a solid foundation in various artistic techniques and theories. Throughout my undergraduate studies, I dedicated myself to honing my artistic abilities and exploring different mediums. This experience allowed me to develop a unique artistic style that merges traditional and contemporary elements, offering a fresh perspective to the art world.
One of the things that sets me apart as an artist is my willingness to take risks and push boundaries. I am constantly experimenting with new techniques and styles, and I am never satisfied with simply repeating what has been done before. This commitment to innovation and creativity has led me down many exciting paths, and I am always eager to see where my art will take me next. Ultimately, my goal as an artist is to create works that speak to the human spirit and inspire others to see the world in a new and profound way. Whether my paintings are hanging in a gallery, a museum, or a private collection, I hope that they will touch the hearts and minds of
those who view them, and that they will leave a lasting impression on the world.
